G59 Spider
The spider featured in the visual for Burgundy during the national GreyDay 2024 tour by $uicideBoy$. The concept behind the character was a spider embodying the G59 logo and the overall $uicideBoy$ aesthetic, featuring gold teeth, barbed wire, and a bold, eye-catching design.
I was responsible for the modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation of the character.
In this animation, a stylized G59 giant spider is wrapping Oddy and Scrim in its webs. For this sequence, I took inspiration from how real spiders wrap their prey. However, I faced two challenges: the spider was too large to realistically manipulate its prey, and directly copying real-life references wouldn’t result in a visually striking scene. I needed a way to showcase the spider in its entirety while clearly depicting it wrapping the rappers.
To solve this, I utilized the spider’s hands located under its skull to spin its prey, mimicking the movement real spiders perform with their front legs. Meanwhile, the actual front legs were animated to wrap them in webs. The result is a visually dynamic animation that captures the initial concept of a spider wrapping both rappers in its web.
